DRIFTWOOD PARK

Public BBQ

Driftwood Park in Parkwood presents something of an enigma wrapped in Queensland sunshine. The name is delightfully misleading. Don't arrive expecting to collect nature's wooden sculptures for your aquarium, as one hapless reptile enthusiast learned after a 20-minute journey. The park's condition appears to fluctuate with council attention, currently showing signs of municipal neglect that weren't evident in its better-maintained past. What hasn't changed is the warmth of the local community. The surrounding residents remain genuinely welcoming, always ready for a proper chat over the fence, the sort of authentic Australian friendliness that makes a place memorable. The facilities, when properly maintained, serve families well for a weekend barbie. Accessibility could use attention, with disabled parking spots in short supply. It's a lovely spot with genuine potential, though it seems to be waiting for someone at council headquarters to remember it exists again.
